Jaguar dominated international sports car racing in the 1950s, with overall wins at LeMans 24-Hour Race in 1951,1953,1955, 1956, and 1957. After winning in three of the past four years, Jaguar decided to retire from racing and concentrate on their production cars. The XK 140 was the race-inspired sports car through February 12, 1957, when a fire destroyed Jaguar’s Browns Lane factory.
This particular XK 140 is called the MC (Modified Competition) Model or the SE (Special Equipment). It has the C-Type head, high-performance cams, uprated suspension, special driving lights, and chrome wire wheels. The paint is bright red and the leather is tan. This car underwent a most thoughtful & comprehensive restoration. Included are invoices for 1,234.25 hours of frame-off/ground-up restoration from The Classic Car Co.of Tennessee, which does not include a documented engine re-build by XKs Unlimited of California. All aspects of this fine motorcar are original and or period correct. This restoration was completed in 1991 with very few miles added since, mainly because the owner of this car had four other classic British sports in his collection to drive! The odometer shows 76,840 miles.

This XK 140 car is in excellent overall condition and has not been offered for sale for many years. It was entered into the Shelter Island Car Show in 2018 where it competed against one hundred other collector cars and won “Best in Show”!
